Study of QCD thermodynamics at finite density by Taylor expansion

چکیده
We discuss the phase structure and the equation of state for QCD at non-zero temperature and density. Derivatives of lnZ with respect to quark chemical potential μq up to fourth order are calculated for 2-flavor QCD, enabling estimates of the pressure, quark number density and associated susceptibilities as functions of μq via a Taylor series expansion. Also, the phase transition line for 2 and 3-flavor QCD and the critical endpoint in the (T, μq) plane are investigated in the low density regime.

QCD thermodynamics at zero and non-zero density
We present recent results on thermodynamics of QCD with almost physical light quark masses and a physical strange quark mass value. These calculations have been performed with an improved staggerd action especially designed for finite temperature lattice QCD. In detail we present a calculation of the transition temperature, using a combined chiral and continuum extrapolation. Furthermore we pre...
متن کاملQCD thermodynamics with effective models
In this talk we extend the Polyakov-quark-meson model to N f = 2 + 1 quark flavors and study its bulk thermodynamics at finite temperatures in mean-field approximation. Three different Polyakov-loop potentials are considered. Our findings are confronted to recent QCD lattice simulations of the RBC-Bielefeld and HotQCD collaborations. Furthermore, the finite chemical potential expansion of the q...
متن کاملLattice QCD at finite density: imaginary chemical potential
I describe the results for the critical line and the thermodynamics of different phases of QCD which have been obtained by lattice simulations with an imaginary chemical potential. I review motivations and merits of the different strategies – Taylor expansion, Fourier analysis and Pade’ approximants – for analytic continuation from imaginary to real chemical potential. I consider phenomenologic...
متن کاملThermodynamics and heavy-quark free energies at finite temperature and density with two flavors of improved Wilson quarks
Thermodynamics of two-flavor QCD at finite temperature and density is studied on a 163 ×4 lattice, using a renormalization group improved gauge action and the clover improved Wilson quark action. In the simulations along lines of constant mPS/mV, we calculate the Taylor expansion coefficients of the heavy-quark free energy with respect to the quark chemical potential (μq) up to the second order...
متن کاملJa n 20 07 Quark number susceptibilities : lattice QCD versus PNJL model ∗
Quark number susceptibilities at finite quark chemical potential are investigated in the framework of the Polyakov-loop-extended Nambu Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. A detailed comparison is performed between the available lattice data, extrapolated using a Taylor expansion around vanishing chemical potential, and PNJL results consistently obtained from a Taylor series truncated at the same order. ...
